M’udder Goose

November 16th, 2008 — 08:55 pm

The CowParade is the world’s largest public art event. Local artists from all backgrounds submit design proposals to their city committee for selection from corporate and private sponsors. At the conclusion of each event, the cows are herded up and many are auctioned, with a substantial portion of the proceeds benefiting charity.

“And what could be more fun (and challenging) than painting a full size fiberglass cow?! It’s a toss up between the fun we had painting M’udder Goose and the looks on my neighbor’s faces when they saw a full size cow wrapped in brown paper being delivered to my house. Assisting in the painting of M’udder Goose were members of the Las Vegas SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) critique groups.”

Character Banner

November 16th, 2008 — 08:46 pm

Commissioned for a private school library, partners Sharon Mann and Phyllis Mignard created a magical vision, in fabric, of what happens to a child’s imagination when they begin to read. The 4’ x 15’ fabric illustrated banner incorporates quilting, embroidery, crocheting, knitting, beading, hand sewing and painting techniques in its construction. Based on an original illustration by Phyllis Mignard the banner consists of four sections, each measuring 40” x 48”. Sharon and Phyllis work together designing the banner showcasing each character with continuity between the illustrations and fabric characters.
